Parents and 2 children (until they left home).
At Sep 1939, Maud and the 2 children and Maud's mother Frances Emerson were with Maud's sister Helen Dibble in Taunton, but it is not known whether that was a short visit or a longer stay.
At the same time, Ernest Redding remained at his Holland Grove home with his wife's uncle George Emerson. George had lived at Brixton Road with his brother Thomas Emerson and his wife Frances. Perhaps George moved to Holland Grove after his brother's death in 1937, or perhaps he was only temporarily visiting Holland Grove in 1939 while Frances and Maud were visiting Taunton as above.29,30,31,32

Perhaps George moved to Holland Grove after his brother's death in 1937, or perhaps he was only temporarily visiting Holland Grove in 1939 while Frances and Maud were visiting Taunton as above.34,35,36,37

Perhaps George moved to Holland Grove after his brother's death in 1937, or perhaps he was only temporarily visiting Holland Grove in 1939 while Frances and Maud were visiting Taunton as above.9,10,11,12

Extensive reports in the Canberra Times 16/17/18 Apr 1957 and 21/22/23 May 1957 and in the Sydney Morning Herald 22/23 May 1957 are attached and a brief summary of events follows.
Ronald Albert Emerson (driver, 24, single, Kintore Circle, Yarralumla), William Patrick Shannon (chainman, 29, married with child aged 5, Waratah Street, O'Connor) and Ellen Fraser (housewife, 25, married with children aged 5½ and 7, Peel Street, O'Connor) were charged with assaulting John Gregory Ryan and robbing him of £15.
Police alleged that the 3 accused, who had been drinking together at the Hotel Wellington on the evening of 5 Apr 1957, arranged that Fraser (who was known to Ryan) would ask Ryan for a lift home. On the way, Fraser asked Ryan to stop near Black Mountain and Emerson and Shannon, who had been following in Emerson's car, assaulted Ryan and robbed him of £15.
In the Court of Petty Sessions on 15/16/17 April 1957, Magistrate S. M. Denton committed the accused for trial before the Supreme Court and allowed bail of £200 each.
Following the trial in the Supreme Court on 20/21/22 May 1957 before Mr Justice Simpson, the jury retired for 45 minutes before finding the 3 accused guilty, with a strong recommendation for leniency. Emerson and Shannon were sentenced to 9 months hard labour, the Judge saying that he would have sentenced them to 12 months but for the jury's recommendation. He had intended to send Fraser to prison but, after it was confirmed that she was pregnant, he released her on a £100 bond to be of good behaviour and abstain from entering licensed premises for 2 years.
Emerson was the only accused who had a police record, with prior convictions for trespassing and insulting words.12,13
