At the Presbyterian Church, Singapore on Tuesday, the Rev. Stephen Band officiating, Mr Albert Edward Garden, third son of Mr and Mrs Garden, of Aberdeen, was married to Miss Ina McKay Farquhar, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Farquhar, of Aberdeen.
Mr E. W. P. Fulcher gave the bride away and Mrs Fulcher was the matron of honour. Mr David Henderson was the best man.
After the ceremony, a reception was held at 303 Tanglin Road. The honeymoon is being spent at Fraser's Hill.10,11,12

Jun 1941: transferred to Singapore as Assistant Chief of Staff to the British Naval Commander in Chief, China Station, Vice Admiral Geoffrey Layton.
Dec 1941: appointed Commodore Commanding China Force, the RN-RAN cruiser and destroyer force based in Batavia, Dutch East Indies, under the American-British-Dutch-Australian Command. After the fall of Singapore, Collins organised the evacuation of Allied civilians and military personnel from Batavia, and was on one of the last ships to leave, before the city fell.
Mar 1942: appointed Senior Naval Officer, Western Australia, based at Fremantle.
1943: commanded HMAS Shropshire.
mid-1944: commander of the Australian-US Navy Task Force 74, and commander of the Australian Naval Squadron, with HMAS Australia as his flagship. When the war ended, he was the RAN's representative at the surrender ceremony in Tokyo Bay.
1948-1955: Chief of Naval Staff.
1956-1962: Australian High Commissioner to New Zealand.3
