Extract from article in Corowa Free Press, 17 Apr 1936, p5 headed 'Mr N. Prendergast':
     The death occurred at the Corowa District Hospital on Friday of last week, after a short illness, of Mr. Nicholas Prendergast, aged 65, who had been a resident of Balldale for
the past five years.
     Deceased was a native of Omeo (Vic.), and for a time was wheat farming in the Narrandera district. In recent years he and his sons were associated with contracts for the
Irrigation and Water Commission. He was a widower, and is survived by four sons, Stanley (Adelaide), William (Henty), Ab. and Laurence (Balldale), and three daughters.


     The funeral was held on Saturday last, when the remains were interred in the Corowa New Cemetery. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. P. J. O'Reilly.12
